I just bought the funniest tee on Springleap!

I was checking my email this afternoon, when I received an email from Springleap announcing some winners, so I naturally clicked through and had a look at some tees. I have ordered tees from Springleap before they’ve arrived in RECORD TIME (order online, arrive 15mins later offline).

So anyway, back to the funniest tee ever:

simpsons-tee

Isn’t that just brilliant? Buy it here. I’m not too keen on the pink, but the design itself is magical, I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw it, hence the reason I had to buy it!

Go on, head over to Springleap – buy tshirts online!

The Facebook Movie is in the pipeline!

No jokes, apparently there’s going to be a Facebook movie, can you imagine? I guess it’s pretty damn cool, but I can’t help myself but laugh. It’s going to be about the founding days of the ‘application’, which I guess would be really interesting!

Read about it here..

Which South African geeks suffer from Discomgoogolation?

Feeling stressed or anxious at an inability to access the internet? Don’t worry, you’re not alone and now there’s a word for it: “discomgoogolation”.

Nearly half of Britons – 44% – are discomgoogolation sufferers, according to a survey, with over a quarter – 27% – admitting to rising stress levels when they are unable to go online.

“The proliferation of broadband has meant for the first time in history we’ve entered a culture of ‘instant answers,’” said psychologist Dr David Lewis, who identified discomgoogolation by measuring heart rates and brainwave activity.

The term comes from “discombobulate”, which means to confuse or frustrate, and Google.

“A galaxy of information is just a mouse click away and we have become addicted to the web,” added Lewis. “When unable to get online, discomgoogolation takes over.

Can not live without internet

“It was surprising to see the stress this led to brain activity and blood pressure in participants both increase in response to being cut off from the internet.”

The survey also found 76% of Britons could not live without the internet, with over half of the population using the web between one and four hours a day and 19% of people spending more time online than with their family in a week.

Forty-seven percent of those polled believed the internet was more important in people’s lives than religion, with one in five people paying the internet more attention than their partner.

Commissioned by information service 118118, the YouGov poll questioned 2 100 Britons during the first week of July.

R5000 in Adsense – A new record!

I’m completely thrilled, not only did I have such a fantastic weekend filled with great friends and motivating factors, I reached an all time record for Adsense totaling just over R5,000.00!

$665.51 U.S. dollars = 5095.83 South African rands.

adsense-south-africa

Over the past several months, I read a number of articles which stated that it was no longer possible to earn decent money using Adsense; after reading all of these articles, I was motivated to prove everyone wrong!

If you’re interested in watching my progress, this will give you an idea: May | June | July.

You perform at your best when you’re tested

I was over at Sue’s blog taking a read when I came across this piece of writing she did, which was adapted from “The Obvious” by James Dale. I felt it had a huge amount of value to it and wanted to share it – It goes nicely with a change in strategy.

Push yourself

You can coast and you can do fine.
But over time this will make you stale and tired. You’ll lose your edge.

You perform at your best when you’re tested.
So, if you’re good at what you do, if you almost do it blind-folded, stop.

Walk away. Raise the stakes.
Do something you want to do, even if you’re not sure you can do it.

Take on a challenge.

Even if you fail, you failed at something hard, not easy.
And you’ll learn something you didn’t already know.

Just remember not to push yourself too much!

Traffic monitoring webcams for Cape Town

A friend of mine popped me a tweet just now, pointing me to a website, which has webcams all around the place, including Cape Town Traffic Cameras, which allow us to see what’s happening with the traffic. I need to head to the Southern Suburbs at some point, so taking a look at Hospital Bend was my first glance:

What a useful website, well done MTN!

Indian CAPTCHA solving companies are increasing..

Can you believe that there are teams of ‘CAPTCHA crackers’ sitting in shoddy basements, working on solving CAPTCHAs for a couple of dollars. This sort of venture shows us just how much money is in spamming!

Cape Town Weather is going to be awful this weekend!

Last week we had a number of lovely days and all of a sudden it would appear that Winter has decided to pop in for a visit! With a minimum temperature of 11 and a maximum of 15, it’s clear that we’re all going to need a number of layers of clothing to survive!

Then..

cape-town-storming

An 80% chance of rain forces me to sit around in doors at my computer and work on a couple things I’ve had in the pipeline. Sunday’s weather is not going to be any better, a minimum of 11, with a maximum of 13 has been predicted, so prepare for a long weekend of cold, miserable weather – best get those DVDs quickly before the storm sets in!

I’m going to cook some lovely food and relax with a glass of wine:
