Flying Google Images

Ok, so I know this isn’t brand new cutting edge stuff, but it’s kinda cool to play around with if you are bored. Do a search on google for something or click here if you can’t think of anything.

Once the page has loaded, type the following code into your URL bar in your browser:

javascript:R=0; x1=.1; y1=.05; x2=.25; y2=.24; x3=1.6; y3=.24; x4=300; y4=200; x5=300; y5=200; DI= document.images; DIL=DI.length; function A(){for(i=0; i<DIL; i++){DIS=DI[ i ].style; DIS.position=’absolute’; DIS.left=Math.sin(R*x1+i*x2+x3)*x4+x5; DIS.top=Math.cos(R*y1+i*y2+y3)*y4+y5}R++}setInterval(’A()’,5 ); void(0)

Sit back and enjoy what happens :)

Internet is so slow!

Wow, it is just me or has Internet been so very slow for the past couple of days? I understand that the end of the month is usually slow because all the kiddies are downloading porn with their left over bandwidth, but we are several days into the month already and I’m lagging like a bitch!

I cannot surf the net properly, even gmail is returning ajax errors due to the slow load time of pages! When I try and upload files to my server, I am maxing out at 0.5kb/sec which is resulting in timeouts! I can’t upload files to my clients websites and running to an Internet Cafe all the time is not happening!

Please leave me a message if your Internet has been terribly slow!

Ps. Thanks to Louisa for my hot choccie!

Virgin Credit Card

I’ve always been against credit cards and the mass over usage thereof, but the time has come where I need a credit card for a purpose other than not having cash on hand.

Building up a good credit rating is essential when it comes to so many things, including loans, bonds and the likes. I am currently designing a studio for myself, which I am hoping to start building by Feb 2008. Firstly I have a student loan of R40,000, which I will pay off all at once cash at the end of this month and I’m hoping that will be step one in winning over the bank. Step two will be using my Virgin credit card to pay for things and then pay the card off immediately at the end of every month to keep my ratings good.

Now, even though the bank has no problem with giving me a bond to go ahead with the building of the studio, I think it’s essential to show good faith in repayments and credit ratings so if something comes up, they will at least now that financially I’m a safe person to loan money too.

I signed up for my Virgin credit card online, which took about 15 minutes or so. They gave me a great limit, which I actually decided to reduce and so far I am really impressed by the service they have offered me. I was referred to Virgin by most of my colleages, whom swear by Virgin. Interest rates are fantastic and benefits look great two. One thing, which isn’t the best is that Virgin does not offer the system where you can payoff over x number of months, but that wasn’t enough reason to not apply. Virgin also offers a petrol card, which I signed up for too. Pay for all your petrol on your card, repay via EFT end of month – great repayment ratings :)

The whole credit card system is one which can work very much in your favour if you just understand it! All-in-all I am very happy with Virgin, so if you are interested in signing up for a card with them, go on and do it!

Life is RoCkInG

Ok, so I’ve finally found some time to write about the last couple days on a personal note rather than just standard posts.

Thursday was good fun! It started on a shakey note when I woke up at 10h30 realising that we had a big meeting at work at 11h00, fortunately I managed to make it on time and things were running slightly late at work, so it worked out nicely for me. The meeting was great, it’s always fantastic to work with people who are not scared of their employers and opinions are voiced – all in all we covered tons of things and there’s so much positive movement happening. After the meeting, my lovely directors took the company out for lunch at Greens (can’t find a link to their website), just off Kloof Rd. The menu there is fantastic – from the burgers to pastas to sandwiches to pizzas, but the difference is, the food isn’t just standard, toppings are interesting, and there’s an assortment of pizzas with blue cheese’s, etc. which makes it a little cooler than your usual pop in for a lunch place. The lunch was delicious and I finally got a chance to talk to some of my colleagues on a more personal level, rather than always talking about work.

The afternoon went quickly and I was home nice and early, which was ideal as I had a couple of things to sort out. I mentioned my competition, where I’m giveing away a free iPod Touch, we’ve seen some fantastic traffic to the website and a massive collection of people from all over the world signing up! I have now added an extra feature to the site where you can stand a higher chance of winning, click here to take a look. Any support would be really appreciated! Talking about sweepstakes and competitions, a mate of mine runs a fantastic competition blog and I would like to thank him for mentioning my competition – thanks bud! His other website, which I visit on a regular basis is about dating, relationships and love is Romance Tracker – head on over and get some advice for your love life!

Today was an interesting day, Brendon and I were at work fairly early and the Internet was unfortunately down, so we headed over to Seattle Coffee Co to do all our work. We sat there working from early morning all the way until 15h00 – interesting experience! What is also interesting is the amount of work I managed to get through while I was there – I honestly think I did more work than ever before.. strange? I think so. After Seattle, I had a meeting with one of the directors and was told so pretty cool news about being sort of front man for the Marketing Department, which is such a big deal to me, because as much as I love online marketing and web development, Project Management is something I aim to get into more and more! Hopefully this will be my first proper chance!

In and between all these things, I have managed to keep up to date with all the new seasons of series! Desperate Housewives, Heroes, How I Met Your Mother, Prison Break, Entourage, House, Greys Anatomy and Weeds, I think that’s all of them :) All the seasons are really gripping this time round and I’m hooked on them all, which makes it hard to keep track of everything! I’ve also managed to get a couple good games of poker in. I am up about R500 over the last couple of days – nice income, could it ever be passive? ;)

I was invited by JT and Alex to head through to Hemisphere this evening and I really wanted to go, but I find myself almost asleep already and just think it would be a wise idea not to head out and get completely smashed, otherwise I can see this whole weekend being extremely unproductive and the beginning of next week being painful. So, I am going to do a couple more things online and watch a couple episodes of Full Tilt Poker – Learn from the Pros and then hit the sack!

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

P.s. Yes, I’m still listing to Mika – Happy Ending! (I can just see Brendon and JT shaking their heads, haha)

Win an iPod Touch!

Hello guys and girls,

I am currently running a competition over at Crush Calculator, where I am giving away an iPod Touch. The competition is straight forward, just complete the simple form and submit it, that’s all there is to it – stand a chance to win an iPod Touch!

Why? Well, the Crush Calculator website has been such a fun experiment for me and I have learnt a lot from it. I was sponsored the iPod Touch and I, personally, have no use for the thing, so I figured I might as well give it away, but try and gain something else from it, in this case, some more awareness about Crush Calculator.

Click here, head on over and enter the competition. Entries close on 21st December 2007, perfect time for Christmas!

What a great Thursday!

I had such a fantastic day today (now yesterday) and I really want to blog about it, but it’s 2h53 in the morning and I can hardly keep my eyes open. I have tons of news and a wicked competition to tell you all about, but I will do this tomorrow during the day.

It’s Friday already, I honestly cannot believe it! I hope everyone is really well!

Investing money.. Pt1

I have been spending some time looking into investing money and buying shares, as I see it as something really important. The question is, do I invest in high risks shares and follow very closely, perhaps write some code to track the shares’ progress, or do I invest in some low risk shares and enjoy a small, but gradual return? I know that places such as Liberty Life and Old Mutual offer these straight forward investment plans, which involves a minimum payment of R125.00 per month over 10, 15, or 20 years. Now, doing some math quickly, 125 * 12 * 10 would yield a total of R15,000 invested after 10 years of investment. I’m not sure of the interest rates and the anual increase in monthly deposits, but an investment like this would be a really safe one.

Playing the J.S.E. would be fun, buy some shares, watch them daily and basically experience the ‘game’, so to say. This way you would be able to yield a higher return, but you stand the chance of losing a lot more. It’s basically like gambling if you think about it, the more your bankroll is, the more you potentially able to make. Equinox is an online resource, which is very interesting: “Equinox presents the simplest, fastest and lowest cost option to invest in South Africa’s top unit trust funds.” – more here..

I have a couple of things written down and a few email address, so I am going to spend some time looking into this carefully, and then I will post again. Old Mutual has something called The Money Care Plan, which is a very safe option, “The Money Care Plan from Old Mutual can help you build even a small monthly saving into something really worthwhile in just 10 years.” Take a look by using the advert on the right of my website if you are interested.

Sex with a bicycle!

A man has been placed on the sex offenders’ register after being caught trying to have sex with a bicycle.

Robert Stewart was discovered in his room by two cleaners at the Aberley House Hostel in Ayr, south west Scotland, in October last year.

On Wednesday Mr Stewart admitted to sexual breach of the peace in Ayr Sheriff Court, where depute fiscal Gail Davidson described how he had been found by the hostel workers.

She said: “They knocked on the door several times and there was no reply.

“They used a master key to unlock the door and they then observed the accused wearing only a white T-shirt, naked from the waist down. read more..

Mika – Happy Ending

This is the way you left me,
I’m not pretending.
No hope, no love, no glory,
No Happy Ending.
This is the way that we love,
Like it’s forever.
Then live the rest of our life,
But not together.

Wake up in the morning, stumble on my life
Can’t get no love without sacrifice
If anything should happen, I guess I wish you well
A little bit of heaven, but a little bit of hell.

his is the hardest story that I’ve ever told
No hope, or love, or glory
Happy endings gone forever more
I feel as if I feel as if I’m wastin’
And I’m wastin’ everyday.

This is the way you left me,
I’m not pretending.
No hope, no love, no glory,
No Happy Ending.
This is the way that we love,
Like it’s forever.
Then live the rest of our life,
But not together.

2 o’clock in the morning, something’s on my mind
Can’t get no rest; keep walkin’ around
If I pretend that nothin’ ever went wrong, I can get to my sleep
I can think that we just carried on.
