Happy Birthday WordPress! Today sees WordPress turning 5 years old, it’s amazing to see how things has progressed since the first origonal release of version 0.7.

In celebration, they are throwing a party in San Francisco, you’re able to see the full details on Facebook.
We’re having a Cape Town meet for WordPress on Wednesday and on the WordPress blog, it states this: “If you host a party in your area for WordPress’ 5th, let us know and we’ll post it here.” – let’s hope to see if we can get some coverage!
Anyway, congratulations WordPress!!!

I deps 1st comment! LOL.
Wordpress rules!
You got it mate! Hehe, let’s hope hundreds of people leave their kind words :)
WordPress introduced me to MySQL and php about 4 years ago. No I must learn how to create themes. Cannot imagine using another platform.
So tired..
Aaaaaah..
We all owe WP a tribute to our many successes. Thanks guys!
@Rustig – Fortunately creating themes does not require huge understand of php or mysql, but rather a deep understanding of WordPress’s functionality and structure. Knowing what tables and fields are in the database, being able to use key tags and categories by thinking outside the box and knowing what functions WordPress has will allow you to create any theme you want. Naturally there’s a large design side as well.
@Christopher – Ye, WordPress is fantastic, big big up!
lol @ SPONSOR :))
I have noticed that it works very different from the ordinary web. I tried my hand with Coppermine Theme. It also work with tags. I had a look at a worpress theme looks very “scary”, but I am sure I will manage eventually. Nothing ventured nothing gained. I learn through reverse engineering.
@HoTsTePPa – Hehe, come on man, we all need to earn a living ;)
@Rustig – Yes, tags are incredibly important. Once you learn the basic anatomy, you’ll find your way easily, there are tons of guides available, which teach the basics. Using a theme such as Sandbox or K2 would be a good starting spot..
