Human Season

Did you know that humans blah blah blah blah, ramble on, and spew out, on average 5000 words per day? We do the nasty, bump uglies, or make love 120 million times a day? Or that right-handed people live, on average, nineyears longer than lefties? And as tough or hardcore as we like to think we are we are the only animals that produce emotional tears – crybabies!

Human beings be crazy.

Nothing sums up ouridiosyncrasies better than BBC Knowledge’s epic new *Human Season, which happens on Tues and Wed nights DSTV at 9pm on 251.

To mark the launch, the channel erected – delayed Valentine’s pun intended – a 22m long sculpture in Sandton Square this weekend, emblazoned with ice copy “In the Sahara your body loses 1L of water an hour”, as the day went on the ice obviously melted.

Take a watch:

OK Go – Needing/Getting – Official Video

The new music video from OK Go, made in partnership with Chevrolet. OK Go set up over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles. A Chevy Sonic was outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and the band recorded this version of Needing/Getting, singing as they played the instrument array with the car.

The video took 4 months of preparation and 4 days of shooting and recording. There are no ringers or stand-ins; Damian took stunt driving lessons. Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they’d play the right note no matter where they were struck.
