Pretty damn impressive stuff from Chris Cornell at the Obama Fundraiser:

The #5GumExperience – Two Door Cinema Club

Last year I noticed this inflow of chewing gum packages at all the local shops and I even remember blogging about the packaging because, finally, there were chewing gum packages that could fit in a pocket with ease – I’m a smoker, I like having gum with me :)

5Gum is one of the brands that embraced this new experience and delivered their gum in stylish, organized packages – three delicious flavors:

  1. Electro .. a tingling spearmint
  2. Turbulence .. a mouthwatering watermelon
  3. Cobalt.. a cooling peppermint

When 5Gum arrived in South Africa, they promised to stimulate our sense with the amazing experiences that incorporated audio and visual brilliance. The promise was met through two exclusive gigs featuring Etienne De Crecy along with an active campaign that saw people submitting their customized, virtual branding projections from all over the world. Take a look at this:

2012′s here and 5Gum isn’t putting the breaks on, this time it’s an experience that brings us Two Door Cinema Club (Best band nominee at NME awards). To find out more information please visit www.facebook.com/5GumSA for information, or hit up @5GumSA on Twitter.

Share The Soundtrack To Your Life With Soundtracking

There are many social networks out  there, that allow you to share nearly everything in your life. Soundtracking is one of the newer social networks, with iPhone and Android apps, that allows you to share the soundtrack to your life.

You sign into the app with either your Facebook, Twitter or Foursquare account, which are integral to sharing the music that you’re listening to. The user interface is slick and functional, and the layout is pretty similar to Foursquare and Instagram, with buttons along the bottom and a pronounced sharing button in the middle.

By tapping on the sharing button, you can choose to share the song you’re listening to in one of three ways. You could either use the music search function, or use the music ID function, which works similarly to Soundhound and Shazam, which identifies music by ‘listening’ to the music you’re playing, or you could select the song that’s currently playing on your iPod app.

The nice thing about the app is that you can also add a photo to your post, either by taking a new picture, or uploading an existing one from your phone. You can also add a location to your post via Foursquare and add a description, which will make up the body of the text when sharing to Facebook and Twitter.

Once your post is shared, people viewing it get taken to a Soundtracking page, where they will have the option of previewing the song and buying it from iTunes. From here, they also have the option of liking the song, loving it and sharing a comment.

Soundtracking has an average four and a half star rating on the iTunes App Store and the reviews are all positive. Soundtracking adds a musical dimension to sharing, which is a welcome addition to social sharing apps.

Do you use Soundtracking? Do you think it has a place amongst the other social sharing apps? Let us know in the contents below.

Maddi Jane – Skyscraper

Who remembers Maddi Jane? The young girl with an incredible voice who does covers of Adele, Jesse J and other’s .. of course you remember! Well, here’s her latest one:

OK Go – Needing/Getting – Official Video

The new music video from OK Go, made in partnership with Chevrolet. OK Go set up over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles. A Chevy Sonic was outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and the band recorded this version of Needing/Getting, singing as they played the instrument array with the car.

The video took 4 months of preparation and 4 days of shooting and recording. There are no ringers or stand-ins; Damian took stunt driving lessons. Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they’d play the right note no matter where they were struck.

Romeo Santas feat. Usher – Promise

If you’re into salsa you’ll more than likely heard of Bachata – This is a cool tune by Romeo Santas, featuring Usher (yes, Usher!). The acting is awful, but the song’s quite wicked.

Sarah McLachlan – Dirty Little Secret

I’ve been a fan of Sarah McLachlan’s music for many years, from her own songs to the parts she plays in electronic music. This evening I came across one of her songs called Dirty Little Secret and it’s an awesome track, well worth taking the time to listen to.

Enjoy..

Best advert I’ve seen: Omo

On Friday night whilst having drinks, surfing the Internet and looking for brilliant content, the Omo advert came up in discussion and I’ve been laughing ever since. Don’t you think that this is one of the best adverts you’ve ever seen:

I’ve laughed and laughed and laughed. Priceless.

Whilst we’re on the topic of awesome videos, check out Kitty Corliss, Grinding the Crack:

Inspired by Jeb Corliss obviously. Btw, that’s AWOLNATION – Sail, lyrics here.

Everyday Awesomeness-viola player rocks the Nokia ringtone

This awesome response of Slovakian viola player, Lukas Kmit, to a ringing cell phone during his recital has been doing the rounds. If you’ve ever been interrupted by a noisy, inappropriate cell phone during a movie, performance or presentation, enjoy…
