OK Go – Needing/Getting – Official Video

The new music video from OK Go, made in partnership with Chevrolet. OK Go set up over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles. A Chevy Sonic was outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and the band recorded this version of Needing/Getting, singing as they played the instrument array with the car.

The video took 4 months of preparation and 4 days of shooting and recording. There are no ringers or stand-ins; Damian took stunt driving lessons. Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they’d play the right note no matter where they were struck.

Top Gear Celebrate 10 Million Facebook Fans

It’s a good accomplishment to reach 10,000 fans, it’s an incredible accomplishment to reach 100,000 fans and then there are some brands which even reach 1,000,000 fans. It doesn’t stop there though, Top Gear has reached 10,000,000 fans and counting – what an achievement.

In celebration of reaching 10 million fans, Top Gear put together a video, take a watch:

I think the idea of creating celebration videos for goals being reached is excellent, not only does it encourage even more people to like your page, but it creates hype around your brand because of the achievement.

BMW’s interactive projection mapping

I’m an Audi fan, but I can’t help but appreciate BMW’s social media ventures, especially their latest one that involves interactive projection mapping to catapult the new 1-series into the market.

The game tied into Facebook nicely, posting scores to a real-time Facebook leader board and sharing them with friends, thus creating the whole viral strategy.

Pretty awesome!

Successful Red Bull Mobile Campaign

Over the last few weeks I’ve been involved in what has been one of the best campaigns that I’ve seen in a while. The campaign was in light of Red Bull Mobile’s new mobile offerings and the idea was to create awareness thereof.

The campaign consisted on various things such as:

Puzzle Solving
Fasted Tweet
Blog Posts
Car Building
Video Making

So I’m not going to go into detail about the fasted tweets or the puzzle solving, but the car building and the video making is definitely worthwhile. Three cars stood out, take a look:

And of the three cars, just myself and one other entrant took part and created awesome video’s. Ok, I’m a one man band compared to a team, so forgive mine for not being on production level, but give me kudos’ for being original. I also reckon my video got a lot more votes than the other team, but because my video was only 29 seconds, I was penalized – I stand to be corrected though, but research showed me that my fans really stood up and did their thing – thank you!

Out of the 8 bloggers involved in the campaign, I came second – sad to say that I had a really slow start which let me down, but the winning team, Flux Magazine, did a stellar job – congratulations!

Absolutely loved being involved in the campaign, I hope that Red Bull Mobile is satisfied with the sheer quantity of noise that was created and I hope to be involved in another campaign soon.

Watch the Australian Grand Prix Live!

When it comes to cars I find myself being able to spend hours looking, touching, test driving and discussing the cool things you can do with cars. It’s been like this for as long as I can remember, guess it’s a boy thing? One thing I haven’t been too involved with is F1 racing, from time to time I tune in and watch a Grand Prix on the tele, mostly when someone I follow on Twitter starts jumping up and down. I enjoy watching, and would probably enjoy it more so if I could attend a live Grand Prix one day – imagine going to one of those tracks and physically seeing the speed at which those drives burst around the track? Sjoe!

So, the good news is that Red Bull Mobile South Africa is actually running a competition where you could win one of six double tickets to the Australian F1 Grand Prix – just imagine! Bonus! You get entered into the draw if you sign up for a RedBull Mobile contract or use their pay as you go services – no a shabby opportunity.

What do you think of the new Mini Coupe?

Everyone knows that I’m an Audi and cabriolet fan thanks to DChetty. A couple years ago I had a chance to drive a mini and thoroughly enjoyed flying around the streets in a soft top Cooper Sport. I spotted the new Mini Coupe a couple of weeks ago online and I’ve wanted to blog some photographs to get your opinions on it.

I’d dig to get one, but I am yet to hear a good thing about Mini’s service though and I’ve learnt that service is just as important as the vehicle you drive.

Anyway, let’s get back on point, here are some photographs, would love to know what you think:

Interactive driving experience on YouTube with Audi

Audi’s launching the new A6 with a banging YouTube interactive experience campaign. The campaign uses a fancy indexing feature allowing you to control the video with your keypad, which jumps you around from section to section giving you the feeling that you’re actually driving the car.

It’s a sweet idea and all, but when I started trying it out, I quickly found that it was a little annoying. Big kudos’ to Audi for being the first to create a driving experience through social media channels.

My Good Fellas card arrived

About a month ago I blogged about the No Regret Friday campaign that was flying across the Internet. The aim of this campaign is to encourage people not to drink and drive, so it’s a worthwhile initiative to get involved in and worth pledging your support.

Awesome Augmented Reality app from VW

As the months go by, I hear more and more about augmented reality. I have to admit, I thought the uptake would have been far quicker and perhaps I’ve missed a lot of things, but it’s definitely not as popular as I had expected.

There are some really awesome ideas already, but very few of them, to me, hold great value. Well, that was until I saw this application from VW and although it doesn’t hold great value in the great sense of things, it certainly holds huge value in terms of marketing for VW.

The VW augmented application, which works on the iPad 2, iPhone and Android devices allows you to aim your device at their new cabriolet and the application allows you to explore the car. On top of this, you can change the colour of the car with the application and even take a photograph of yourself inside of it.

Quite an awesome innovation, it will be awesome if VW share their market penetration once this spreads.
