OMG! Hav u hrd da 411 frm VDCM? Dey r launching a nu brand 4 da uth ;)
If you didn’t understand the last sentence, you are probably over the age of 25. To translate, Vodacom will be launching a new, youth-tailored brand. Vodacom is making local history with the introduction of the country’s first-ever, youth-specific cellular offering – Vodacom Color.
Under 25’ers, labelled Generation Y, the Net Generation, Millennials and more, have grown up with a number of rapidly evolving technologies that have had an impact on almost every area of life. The internet has been around for longer than they’ve been alive and they communicate via social networks, Instant Messaging, SMS and email. They entertain themselves with music and video downloads and by playing games online. The credo of this generation is “I am what I share”, rather than “I am what I own”.
Vodacom, one of South Africa’s leading communications groups, has long been attuned to the needs and wants of young people and has heard the demands of this generation. Enter Vodacom Color – an ultra-cool brand available exclusively to under 25 year olds, designed to provide users with a bunch of cool add on options, free extras and opportunities to win some awesome prizes.
Addressing the youth of South Africa, Romeo Kumalo, Executive Director: Commercial of Vodacom South Africa says: “We have listened to what you want and as a result we have developed Vodacom Color – a youth-specific brand that we hope you will shape and develop in dialogue with us. Tell us what you want and what you need and let’s Color your life!”
Registration for Vodacom Color is free and can be done on the wapsite at www.vodacomcolor.mobi by entering your name and ID number. On registration for Vodacom Color users will receive the Vodacom Color basic service: a free Vodamail email account; free subscription to Color UR World with the latest celeb gossip, sports and headline news; 15 free MMSs; 15 free SVSs (Short Voice Service); 3MB to browse of up to 30 Internet pages; 10 Please Call Me’s per day and AdMe – a daily SMS or MMS that automatically qualifies users to win cell phones, clothing, shoes and ticket giveaways. These great value-add services can be renewed monthly by recharging with R40 every 30 days for Prepaid and Top Up customers just need to register to get it every 30 days.
In addition, Vodacom has developed four COLOUR UP Bundles to enhance the basic Vodacom Color service. With Color UR Tunes, users can download two Real Tones and two full tracks whilst Color UR Play lets them download 2 premium games. Color UR Talk offers users the option of one hour of free talk time every night between midnight and 5am and social media fanatics can enjoy 100 SMSs and up to 100MB free data on Mxit, Facebook Mobile and The Grid with Color UR Friends. Users can buy one or more of these add-ons to suit their personalities, interests and lifestyle.
