Ode to scarves

1 Countryroad7

Since the weather in Cape Town has turned from toasty to chilly, I have once again become best friends with my ever-growing scarf collection.

I honestly do not think that a person could ever own enough scarves, especially in winter. Personally I find that the scarf is the best winter accessory – They can complete an outfit, can be a very easy way to bring colour (or patterns) into a dark, plain outfit and they make me feel strangely comforted (I like to think of them as mini blankets around my neck).

At the moment I am wanting to get a knitted grey scarf (preferably a Country Road one) and a colourful thinner material scarf for slightly sunnier winter days.

Here are a few interesting scarves and a few scarf inspired things that I liked and I thought I would share:

From top left :

  1. Tolani multi coloured scarf
  2. Vintage scarf buttons found on Kaboodles,
  3. White feather scarf by reunasilmukka,
  4. Grey button scarf from Chocosho
  5. Scarf for two print by The Black Apple on Etsy.
  6. Cool mens scarf from solouniko.

@Brazen – I’m highly impressed with Country Road, my Mom recently bought the most gorgeous top from Country Road, that combined with the Trennery boots I got her, looks stunning :)

These “little” shops opening inside places like Wool Worths are always wonderful. Does Country Road do a men’s line? I, for some reason, can’t for the love of me, remember!

  8. Brazen says:

Chris M – Yup, Country Road has very nice mens clothes too.

I’m going to go and look this weekend, and now that I know they have their own store at the VnA, that’s even better, best mall in Cape Town :)

Also guilty of being “a scarf slut” I have this really petty pink scarf that was my grannys. Basically the only thing I took from her closet. Doesn’t smell like her anymore but still one of my most prized possesion.

I’m bonkers for scarves too! I saw a gorgeous chunky purple one today but Durbs hardly ever gets cold enough, darn it!

Ye, scarves are only great for wearing if the weather is nice and chilly otherwise it gets too hot!

Got something to say? Go for it!
