Just the other day, BMW started announcing that they are planning on releasing their own small car based on its Mini models.
“We expect by 2020 growth of between four to six percent” in the market for small, high-end automobiles, BMW boss Norbert Reithofer told a press conference in Munich, southern Germany.
It’s interesting to see BMW making such a move not too long after Audi launched its A1..

I don’t have too much more information as of yet, but I’ll keep everyone updated as the weeks go by. I am quite excited to see what BMW come up with for a small car!

Yep, it seems BMW is following Audi on this one. I guess it makes a lot of business sense for them to do this, as their mission is to be the leading premium green car builder by 2020. However this car goes against one of BMW’s main attributes: rear wheel drive. This new city car will be front wheel drive, which is a HUGE deal for BMW purists. Hopefully they’ll at least call it something very different (I’m thinking it will be called the BMW Isetta, or perhaps the I series), and I hope the styling will be radically different from “normal” BMW’s. Shot for the link bro, I was actually wondering if they had a decent “news” portal of sorts :)
A totally different name is a very cool, dig the ring to Isetta!
