Lust have: Name necklaces

I, along with many ladies, fell in lust with the “name necklace” when Carrie Bradshaw wore her gold one during  episodes of Sex in the City. After that name necklaces were spotted on every celebrity from Paris Hilton to Gwen Stefani …. and guess what, it seems like the name necklace is making another comeback.

Besides the fact that name necklaces are super cute and personal, I also think the name necklace has a few other uses, like:

  1. The name necklace can help you recall your name when alcohol has blurred your memory
  2. If you’re single and mingling, wearing a name necklace is a helpful way to remind the guy that’s hitting on you what your name is *winks*.
  3. And, when introducing a random aquaintence to your man or friend, it helps avoid the awkward “Im sorry, whats your name again?” moment.

My lovely friend Julie, from Collect Jewellery (which is based in Cape Town), has just started making fabulous, silver name necklaces (as seen in above picture). They cost R380 (with or without bird on the end) and if you live in Cape Town you will only have to wait about 2-5 days for one. To order you can e-mail Julie:  info@collectjewellery.co.za

Will you be wearing a name necklace soon?

  2. Such a magnificent re-take on that 70s bling-trend (my mom has a gold one in her old jewellery box…) DEFINITELY going to order – for myself, my daughter – and oh, all my girlfriends ;) GOOOOORGEOUS!

  3. If I had known that I could have got them from someone local I would have got my fiance one, but I just got her a heart necklace for Valentines day. Mind you, there’s no such thing as too much jewelry is there ladies?

Hi Julie, first of all super sorry for being a bit rude the other day, here’s why, got so excited about finding someone in Cape town who does the name necklaces (i live in Italy and here they are or insanely expensive or they don’t make them nicely) anyway, got so excited, tried to call you and got no reply and the cell number said it was a non existing number (note that i was phoning from skype, no idea if that was the problem) and when i got no answer i thought that it was a dud site! Well thank goodness it’s not cause it’s months that ive been waiting to get this necklace, im coming to SA for a visit end of July and would like to order my necklace, do you prefer email or can i call you sometime next week??
