Kittens in a Cape Town Flat

Soooo, I was sent an email by Sue today, which stated that a family had 2 kittens that needed a home; the minute I saw their little faces I was hooked and arranged to go and see them. Long story short, they’re now living in my flat :)))

We haven’t decided on their names yet, hopefully their personalities will shine through and names will come to mind. They’re already spoilt, we went out and bought anything and everything we could think of for them hehe.

I’ll take some more pics once they’ve settled down a little and know us a bit better. Right now they’re curled up in their little sleeping basket thingy :)

So glad you took them in, they are adorable and they are probably the most amusing pets you’ll ever have. You’ll find them sleeping in your drawers, in cardboard boxes (they love these) and under your pillow. You will laugh a lot, guaranteed!

I was going to suggest that you name them after Heff’s twin girlfriends but I see now that he dumped them in January already (shows how much I know!)

Have you bought a scratching post? If you haven’t then you can take the one I have. Also, my kittehs don’t use their cat-beds so you can have those too if you want.

@Louise – They are to die for, can’t believe how much I adore them already and you’re quite right, they had me in stitches already :)

@justBcoz – Hehe, we’re very stuck on names at the moment, I’m hoping as their personalities come through we’ll get ideas. The one is way more adventurous (spell) and bouncy, whereas the other, who is a teeny bit more prettier, is calmer and more nervous, so there’s a definite difference. I’ve got this fancy scratch thing with holes they can climb into and all sorts and they’re got a fancy summer/winter bed which can be changed according to the temperature – trust me, well spoilt already! Thank you for the offer though, I might need a second bed if they don’t stop rough housing all through the night!

Oh my Go- Chris, they are really cute!! Do let us know once you decide on names for them?

    Aaaaw, so cute!

They just say *squeeze* don’t they? :)

Chris, how wonderful that you saved two lives! They are absolutely adorable. :) You may already know this, but the silicon cat sand (white sand with blue bits in it) is the way forward. You can get it at Spar or PnP, around R90 for a 3,6kg bag. So worth it if they’re going to need a box for a while!

  8. Chris M says:

Ah yes, I saw the stuff, biodegradble as far as I remember? It’s very expensive though, R90 for 3.6kg bag is a lot compared to buying the cheaper options and changing more often, or am I missing something? (Yes, they will need a box for a while).

They’re so adorable, I can’t get enough of them :)

  9. Jo B says:

Yes, it is expensive, but I found it made my flat considerably more daisy-fresh than normal cat litter. :) In the end I installed a cat flap-less than incredibly stylish but cost effective and very useful!

  10. Chris M says:

Ah, yes well I can agree on that one! I’m a little worried about letting these guys out, I’m still considering options :)

  11. Julie says:

I was just about to ask about the letting out. Once they get older, its difficult and unfair to keep them inside. Are you on the ground floor? I’m not, and I recently discovered cat flap + security gate = fail. Not sure what I’m going to do about that…

  12. Chris M says:

Ye, I agree, I’ll feel bad keeping them inside the whole time. I’m on level two, but there are proper steps down to the ground, I just need to really look at things and decide whether it’s safe for them, but ultimately I don’t want them to have to live inside, too cruel and it’s also a mission always keeping everything closed..

Got something to say? Go for it!
