Every now and then, I get incredibly lucky and am invited to spend weekends away at some of the most amazing accommodation spots in the Western Cape.
This time around I’m heading to a place called Mardouw Country House, which is located halfway between Ashton and Swellendam, just take a look at how gorgeous it is:

For those with a penchant for a slower pace there is excellent bass fishing in the well-stocked dams and several scenic walks for all levels of fitness. What better environment in which to refresh body and soul and to wander back to our stone fireplace which provides crackling log fires that will warm body and soul in winter?
I can’t wait to get my fishing gear out again, it’s been too long!
