I see hundreds of people dropping links on Twitter, most of them come completely out of the blue, and they do receive clicks, but not nearly as many as they could.
Recently I did some testing on Twitter, I wanted to see ways in which I could increase the link clicks. I came across a few different things which worked, but there was one which stood out most.
Engage with followers before you just drop a link. There are many ways in which you can do this, but the best way from what I could see if by asking a question, perhaps something like this:
@ChristopherM Anyone heard about the movie Bright Star?
@X – @ChristopherM Nope, what is it?
@Y – Ah yes @ChristopherM, I heard it was going to be great
@Z – Has it come out yet?
As you can see, I asked a simple question knowing that I’d done a review on the movie, Bright Star, but I wanted to see if any of my followers were interested in the topic; clearly 3 people were.
At this point, I could action something like this:
@Christopher Hi @X, @Y, @Z Thanks for your replies; I wrote a blog post about the movie, not sure if I was accurate *insert link to post*
By doing this, you will have 3 people who are already interested in the topic at hand, others might be following the conversation and they will probably click through. If things go well, you might get a comment on the post or even a retweet if they like what you wrote.
Anyway, I wanted to share that little tip with you :)
