<rant>iTunes is honestly some of the most rubbish software I’ve ever had to deal with</rant>
After having absolutely no luck with iTunes, and having to spend time finding out how to fix a frozen iPod, I decided to search around a little for some other software and ended up finding SharePod.
SharePod is a small piece of software that allows you to control your iPod without all the hassles. You can add and remove music, videos, playlists and artwork on your iPod. You can backup onto your computer easily and import them into your iTunes library, if required. SharePod can run from the iPod itself, so you can use it where ever you like.
Here’s what it looks like:
It’s incredibly easy to use and I’d recommend it over iTunes any day! Grab your copy here.

Hi Chris,
there also Copytrans manager which is also a replacement to the bloat iTunes. This one only weighs about 3Mb and is really fast! Supports artworks too.

Nice one Chris…
You beat me to this post – I have been moaning about iTunes forever as well.
I cannot handle the “ownership” aspect, whereby iTunes needs to take ownership of an iPod before you can use it to sync tracks…
…and it’s slow.
Winamp also does an OK job in managing an iPod, although I am not sure if it includes support for the latest models.
I tell you, SharePod is just brilliant, the software made the process of copying to and from the iPod such a breeze – drag, drop, copy.. done! :)
