The Engagement – She said YES!
I proposed to my girlfriend, Fiona (aka Fe), yesterday and she said yes. A lot of people have sent such wonderful messages and asked me more about it. Firstly I’d like to thank everyone, it means more to me than you know!
Here’s how I did it:
I prepared a blog post (click here to see the post) carefully and set it as a draft, I then called Fe to find out where she was and to double check that her Internet was working as I had an important email to send – She was on her way home. I quickly published the blog post and raced through to her house, whilst en route, I grabbed my phone to call her and can you believe it, the cellular network was done! OMGosh, I panicked, but fortunately it came up again a few minutes later. I gave her a call and said that I needed her to go to her laptop and check my website for some information I needed. She quickly loaded up the website and I asked her to refresh it and tell me what the latest log post was entitled, to which I heard “Will you..”, I hung up my phone, jumped out my car and waited for her to read “Please come outside”. Minutes later (Goodness me, those couple minutes felt like years, I was shaking, even though I knew she’d say yes!!!) the gates started to open, I ran up to her door and as it opened, I got down on my knee. It was such a beautiful moment, I don’t think I’ll ever forget the feeling when she said yes, wow, I can’t even describe how that felt! Wooooooohooooooooooo!
We then proceeded to see our families and share the news, whilst answering hundreds of texts, calls, emails and tweets – it was madness. After some champers, a bunch of people were gathering at Sandbar in Camps Bay for drinks to welcome Cath to town. We relaxed and had some good drinks, a big big big thanks to Sue, Brendon, Jolene, Neal, Andre, Cath, Cath and Matt – you guys made Fe and I feel so special!

Getting married was the best thing Ilana and I ever did. It is heaven waking up next to the woman of your dreams, or if you’ve had a tough day, to come home to her is just awesome!
