I have to say FNB are doing really well. They address everyday Banking needs. Beyond that they are up to date with the current trends and youth market needs.

Absolutely, it’s a channel/stream that shouldn’t be overlooked, I would definitely say keep it in the mix as an option seeing that so many people are using it, I just wouldn’t put as much effort into it – I guess that’s more accurate.

SEO is tricky and the competition is big – I work as an SEO for a number of accommodation websites and it’s one of the hardest niches to get good SERP traction, so what you’ve said about using another channel/stream is a good idea if you can’t get someone in to do the SEO :)

I agree with you Chris but for a new venture / small startup it’s pretty easy to gain traffic / untraditional exposure. When i started using twitter i was pretty sure i’m wasting my time but with seo becoming harder and harder it’s an almost temporarily quick fix. It get’s you going faster than the old days but of course it doesn’t provide sustainability, that comes with hard work and persistence exactly what you did and are still doing with imod.

Ye, providing useful targeted information is incredibly important. I must admit, it would take a lot for me to pitch Twitter during a business meeting still!

Yeah Chris I had my doubts about twitter for a while but nevertheless explored it in any case. A few weeks ago i send out a tweet promoting Cape Town accommodation. The result: 65 person tour group from Germany booking accommodation for 7 days in Cape Town. Of course i’m ecstatic!

I became a twitter fan instantly, the secret is to provide useful relevant information and now and again send out a link.
