My weekend away

Last week I mentioned that I was heading out of Cape Town for the weekend and boy oh boy was it worth it!

Fe and I set off late Friday afternoon and arrived there after some serious fighting with rain and below average directions. Upon arriving, we were greeted with a sm:)e and pointed in the direction of our cottage. It was tricky to admire the setting due to the rain and dark, but we could tell that it was going to be an awesome weekend. Priority one was to get a fire going, which I did and the little stone cottage warmed up quickly. Lots of red wine and some great dinner went down well and set us up for a comfortable first night.

I woke up to bacon and eggs in bed on Saturday morning, this was followed with a small walk and then some fishing – The dam had unfortunately not been stoked in quite some time and there were no bass, so I didn’t manage to catch anything – Next time I’ll be more prepared. After fishing, I made a fire and we braaied some wors and chops and then just enjoyed the peace and quiet.

We also took a trip into Talbach and visited a small art gallery and craft store, they had some beautiful art, but nothing which would suite my flat unfortunately. Talbach is quite a beautiful town, I’ll definitely go back there again to explore.

All in all, it was a fantastic weekend, I can’t wait to head out again.

If you’re interested in staying at Welbedacht, please make sure you visit their website here. I would definitely recommend it!

  1. What I can see looks great. Can’t look at all the pix because of the really slow internet connection.
Glad you had a good time away from it all.

  2. I love Tulbagh, have some friends who stay that side and it’s even more beautiful this time of year than any other time.

Haven’t been up that side for a while, really wanted to get up to Piketberg this month but isn’t looking likely, meh.

  3. It was all peaceful until my hour long phone call :P Looks an awesome place dude!

  4. It was such a wonderful weekend! How is your trip going?

  5. @Rox – Ye, I didn’t know much about the town before this trip and now that I”ve been, I will happily visit again! Been so many years since I visited Piketberg!

@Jason – Haha, nah mate, your call was not a problem at all :)

  6. Looks like you had a sweet weekend, I was lucky enough to be stuck on a beach house with 25 degree heat all weekend, that is until we the other side of the tunnel in Paarl and saw Cape Town doing wat it does best… POUR with Blady RAIN!

  7. Oh wow @craig, sounds like gorgeous weather! I was lucky that it didn’t rain during the day on Saturday :) Haha, ye, Cape Town certainly does know how to do what it’s best at! Glad to hear you had a good one!

  8. Beautiful photos – I especially love the one of the rainbow! Looks lovely and peaceful! I am so glad you had such a good time! :)

  9. Yeah man… just a bit bleak as I see how stoked you are to be fishing here and I didnt get to do any… LOL! ;)

  10. @DT – Ye babe, it was totally awesome. The rainbow was cool, but the evening before was surreal, red and orange beams of light from the clouds, quite incredible :)

@craig – Hehe, shame man, next time!?

Have your say..
