New Facebook feature – Friend Lists
Friend Lists let you group friends to more easily share with and view information from specific sets of people. You already can use them to filter your home page, send Inbox messages and manage privacy settings.
With Facebook chat, you are now able to group your friends and chat to certain groups only. What you can do is turn your state to “offline” for certain groups, thus only appearing online for some groups :)
I’m sure you can see the huge benefit this has!

I personally don’t find this very useful. When you add a new friend on FB nowadays it doesn’t even ask you how you know this person, so you can’t group them – they fall into the ‘other’ category and you can’t hide from them! It’d be better if you could block individuals, like on windows live messenger!!

Ya, that’s a good point di03. I’m not a big Facebook user and really only use it from time to time to check Birthdays and a few other things. However, for someone who actually users chat, surely you can agree that this would be useful? I’ve got 700+ friends on Facebook, logging into chat is something I just can’t do because it goes pear-shaped!
