New Pics of A Cape Town Flat by Chris M

As you all know, I really love interior design and I’ve used my flat as a playground to explore possibilities. I just had a new piece of furniture delivered today, so I wanted to upload some new pictures to get your opinions. The new piece is the cabinet under the television in case you didn’t know.

I have the art work on the way and I’ve been looking out for a light for my lounge. I’m also wondering about some more plants. Apart from that, I’m not sure what I could go for next, any ideas?

been looking at flats in ct a lot lately (well, online anyway) – planning on moving there pretty soon. keen to setup a nice pad for myself :)

  3. Chris M says:

@Charl – Thanks dude, ya, pop me a line next time you in the hood and we’ll hook up once!

@Darryn – Ya dude, Try Perspectives, Hip Hop Plaza, etc – both lovely blocks!

  4. Darryn says:

yea, familiar with them – stayed with friends in The Square next door. nice area.

unfortunately work would be out durbanville side – so weighing up those options…

  5. Chris M says:

Ah yes, The Square is awesome indeed. I haven’t stayed there or been inside, but I’ve had a good look from the outside :)

  6. Rox says:

Very cool – what’s new from last time other than the blue cushions?

  7. dave says:

really nice, like the view too its awesome.

  8. Chris M says:

@Rox – The cushions indeed, but the unit under the TV was delivered today :) I still need to go to Eagle Lighting on Long like you suggested, perhaps next Sat morn.

@dave – Thanks mate, ah man, the view is to die for!

Regarding your lighting problem I’ve got the ultimate suggestion for you. Ingo Maurer is the man who creates the most stunning, timeless Light-Art on this planet (forget Italian design!). I’ve seen him and his creations on some shows he is an amazing creator! The downside is he’S fu***** expensive too. But consider it an investment your children will love you for when they inherit it ;P

I shall definitely click through and have a link, my concern is usually delivery to South Africa from International shops, but I’ll still take a look and see what’s possible :)

    Thanks Hauke!

    Go BIG with the plants!

  12. Chris M says:

You reckon? I don’t know, the interior is extremely modern and too many plants might not “fit” with it.

What would you suggest in terms of plants and positioning? Bearing in mind, tons of wind and not too much sunlight..

    Thanks for the comment Tracy!

    Hey Chris.

I was thinking just one (or perhaps two) bigger architectural plants to juxtapose the sleek modern furniture and add a structural softness to the room. You’ll get some idea of what I mean from these Flickr shots: http://www.flickr.com/photos/wall_decals_wall_stickers/3104529991/

The left hand side of the TV area is just crying out for a large floor standing plant IMHO (where that aircon thing is). Plants are important for indoor air quality and a healthy lifestyle.

Another suggestion, hide some of those wires.

Anyway, just my 2 cents worth.

    :)

Tracy, I think you’re right about the LHS of TV (left if you’re facing it, right?), the air conditioner needs to find another place to live and that would provide a nice amount of space – I’m really liking your suggestion here!

My knowledge of plants is fairly limited, so I would need to go to the nursery and explain the environment – finding a pot is going to be another story all together, unless they come in trendy pots :D

What I also like is that if it’s a biggish pot, it’ll be heavy and the crazy wind won’t affect it too much.

    Fantastic idea – Thank you!

I’ve finally purchased a pot plant, which matches the interior, take a look peeps..
