Oh nos!
Last.fm has decided that if you’re located outside the US, UK or Germany, you will now have to pay a monthly subscription to use their service. The cost is only €3.00 per month, but that’s still a great shame. New users will be allowed a 30 song trial period, but then the billing kicks in.

Last.fm currently have 30 million people who use Last.fm every month, so you can imagine the over heads they incurr, but this is still really sad news if you ask me.
Are you a big last.fm fan?

It isn’t a lot of money, but its a great pity – I’m a big fan although I don’t use it that often. I go through last.fm phases.
Oh well – at least there is paypal!
OH NOS!
You can’t be serious? I will pay it though!
Yar bro, quite a shame. I will also be paying it, no questions asked!
The fee/subscription is ONLY for last.fm radio.
And really, who uses their radio?
We all still safe.
Ah, so still listening to tracks will be free?
From what I have read,
yeh.
Plenty of free radio services if you look at Winamp’s media library, becoming a paid last.fm member, I’ve considered it in the past (just for the radio service which I use once in a while to discover new artist), but since I’m not on an uncapped ADSL account, I have very little use for it.
As far as I know it is only if you listen to the last.fm radio. I love last.fm. I use it mainly to track my listening and get recommendations of music, and also to get tags for my music library to use on my pc.
Don’t often listen to the radio, but it does sometimes spit out some SA stars as on the radio though. I’ve heard Dirty Skirts and Karen Zoid.
@Louis – You are right, I misunderstood at the time and it does only apply to the radio as far as I can tell. Awesome to hear the Dirty Skirts!
