Manage your 301 redirects on WordPress, easily

For those of you who play around with SEO, you’ll know that 301 redirects are extremely important to avoid dead pages and duplicate content.

The usual process of fixing this is to get your hands a bit dirty with apache and .htaccess files, but thanks to the Urban Giraffe, a WordPress plugin has been released to help you manage your 301 redirects, it’s about time!

Here are some of the features, which caught my attention:

- 404 error monitoring – captures a log of 404 errors and allows you to easily map these to 301 redirects (Not necessary if you use Google Webmaster Tools)
- Automatically add a 301 redirection when a post’s URL changes
- Export all redirections to CSV, XML, or Apache .htaccess files

Those are just 3 of the 9 features available, and they’re darn useful!

Download here.

The installation:

1. Download the file, above
2. Unzip it
3. Upload the a directory in plugins called ‘redirection’
4. Activate the plugin as per usual
5. Setup the plugin via Manage – Redirection
