This topic has been discussed before and syndicated widely, however, people don’t seem to take it seriously, so I’m going to go over it again.
- Blogging is not easy
- Blogging takes time
- Blogging takes commitment
Anyone who has started a blog, will have sat for a while and thought about a topic worth writing about, this is a natural process, so if that’s you, you’re on the correct track. From here, you go about setting up your website whilst feeling really eager to start. Once the website is up and running, you quickly jump into writing posts, possibly a good number right off the bat. Now, this is not a problem, but I would suggest that if you take that approach, rather than publishing them all at once, future date them and allow them to be published once a day.
Let’s look at a real life scenario; If you and your friends decide to do coffee as a group and you decide that every Monday evening is the best idea, the first few times there’s full commitment, but the minute one is missed, then it becomes every second Monday, then once a month and slowly it falls away. Blogging works in much the same way, keep equal frequencies between blog posts, when your visitors start seeing a change in publishing, they’ll be less inclined to visit – For example, if you’re really busy and time isn’t a variable you have good control over, then rather write a post every Sunday evening and queue it for release on Monday morning at 8am aposed to the odd post here and there – keeping a frequency holds your readers.
It’s important to establish an understanding with your readers, remember, if you’re blogging for any other reason than self fulfillment, then it’s all about your readers, keep them in mind when you’re blogging, note what they want and give it to them.
I hope these two tips help you move closer to successful blogging.

I agree with you 100%.
I started my first blog early last year, It went well for the first couple of months. Then I started missing a post here and there, and pretty soon I stopped blogging on it. :(
I then started http://www.iambored.co.za and its been going for 3 months now, and every day there is new content.
I have found that getting other people, that you personally know, involved and asking about it helps.
I have 2 friends that follow it with rss and as a homepage, and when I miss a day, they ask why. That has helped me to keep blogging.
So if I may, i’m adding another tip. :)
Thanx Chris.
