iMod.co.za will donate R200 to the Blogger Bake Off for 100 votes on Muti
Donations Made By: Sue, Wogan, DChetty and I so far.
Update: Thakadu, Sue, Charl, Wogan, DChetty and vhailorZ have offered to donate R200.00 if we reach the 100 votes point! Who else is in?
DChetty has committed to giving R200 for every 100 votes! Rox will donate R100 for the first 100 and then another R50 if it reaches 150 votes!
SimonB has agreed to also join the donations on one condition – Rafiq, Mike Stopforth, Beverly Merrimen and Max Kaizen show their support – So we’re waiting on you guys!!!
The Worldwide Blogger Bake Off Challenge is a fantastic initiative aimed at raising $1 million in funds to help alleviate poverty in Africa.

There are a number of ways to get involved, namely: bake bread, give ‘dough’ or simply spread the word. There’s also a competition running for the most voted for bread recipe, where the winner will receive R250.00 in Amazon vouchers.
iMod wants to help, so I’ve decided that I would use social media to not only spread the word, but also donate to this great cause. Now, most of you know that I’m unemployed, so I don’t have huge amounts of money to push towards this, but hopefully the amount that I have (R200.00) coupled with the traffic I send to the site, it will be enough to help!
Currently, there are only 6 people who have made donations:
- Quirk: $1473 (R15,000)
- Little Pinch of Salt – $110 (R1,115)
- Sophia Raw – $72 (R730)
- Could be me – make it happen!
- Craig Hallett – $11 (R110)
- Shaun Oakes – $11 (R110)
- Eric Edelstein – $5 (R50)
Based on this, I’d say that my R200.00 is quite generous!
How iMod will contribute:
If I receive 100 votes on Muti for this post, I will donate R200.00 to the cause. The traffic I send will happen regardless :)
Voting closes: Monday 27th October @ 13h00 and all donations will be made.
We’ve reached over 100 votes, so donations can happen. Wogan, Sue and I have both done ours. Here’s mine:

Great idea Chris, and thanks for the heads up.
I will give some thought on what I can do on Roxilla.
Oct 21st, 2008 at 12:41 am
Sure thing, it’s now about spreading the word and it’s interesting, because each person who reads this post will be aware of the campaign and they’ll indirectly be donating R2 :)
Oct 21st, 2008 at 6:23 am
Nice one Chris, Thanks for the support!
Oct 21st, 2008 at 9:31 am
Good stuff Chris, let’s see how quickly it hits the century mark.
Oct 21st, 2008 at 10:07 am
Nice one Chris! We’re spreading the word: http://www.gottaquirk.com/post/1709/muti-imods-post

Thanks Grant, Shaun, Kat, really great to see that people are happy about this and promoting away! Bids are currently sitting at 44, I’m sure we’ll get to the target!
Oct 21st, 2008 at 2:05 pm
Hey lets all do the self promo “charity donations” yeah they’ll get money and bread but you get your name on a leader board plus muti traffic?
Am i the only on finding a problem with this mental-ity?
Oct 21st, 2008 at 2:09 pm
I think you’ve got the wrong mindset rafiq, the object here is 2 fold:
1. Creates awareness of the campaign
2. Results in a donation to Breadline
If I ran a survey about jail4bail and asked every person in the bloggisphere who was pushing the whole campaign, not a single person wouldn’t know that it was you. Isn’t that self promotion then?
Your opinion is valid and I respect that, I just don’t think you’re focusing on the 2 critical points.
Question: Did you vote the post up? Yes or No?
Oct 21st, 2008 at 2:14 pm
Haha Rafiq you’re one to talk. Well put Chris.
Oct 21st, 2008 at 2:17 pm
@Wezz – Look at it this way, rafiq does have a point and I won’t push it aside because it’s valid, but at the end of the day, I’m doing what I do best and from that I’m hoping to donate some money to a good cause..
Thanks Wezz :)
Oct 21st, 2008 at 2:30 pm
Of course he has a point, I don’t agree with this new trend of spamming social media channels for some or other cause. That’s just me.
Rafiq bugging you about the same thing he did a couple of months back is laughable. The campaign became more about him than the jail-bird.
Oct 21st, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Yip. I wanted to donate, I’ve seen so many poverty news pieces lately, that I realised I was in a position to give a donation, even if it’s a little one.
If I recall, I blogged twice about jail4bail, I changed my Facebook profile picture for a week and I tweeted it, that’s how I helped out last time and this time I’m going a little further and in my opinion, the innovation is great and it’s for a good cause, it will feed a couple children :)

Wow, that sick shit. Tight stoffel, voted allready.

Thanks Han, appreciate it!

When vanishing for 2 months yet the real reason continued to echo was a sign.
Have you had a conversation with said @jail4ail bird to understand what happened?
Oct 21st, 2008 at 4:33 pm
Sarah, it’s a really great idea and I am definitely going to be involved.
I am giving some thought into what I want to do, but reckon it will involve a donation and some spreading the word. And I will also find a kickass recipe. :-)
Oct 21st, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Hey Chris
Shot for the post. Although some people may not agree with it, I can assure you there are tens of thousands more who would be very pleased.
I look forward to seeing (and perhaps tasting) your bread. I’ve heard you fry up a good steak… but bread is a different story. Do you have what it takes?
Oct 21st, 2008 at 4:46 pm
@Sarah – Not a problem, just doing my thing for all of it! Voting is sitting at 57, so we’re closing in on the deadline!
@Rox – Recipe! Do that, then let me know and we’ll push some votes :)
@Rob – Absolutely, there will always be the few who are against it, that’s life, but the magority will give thumbs up! You’re right, steak is one thing, bread.. eeeek, we’ll see ;) Can it be magic bread? ;)
Oct 21st, 2008 at 4:51 pm
Magic bread… that’s my favourite kind!
Oct 21st, 2008 at 4:52 pm
The children will definitely be smiling ;)
Oct 21st, 2008 at 5:43 pm
You got my vote. Will spread the word.
Oct 21st, 2008 at 5:45 pm
Awesome Ivolution, thanks for the support! :)
Oct 21st, 2008 at 9:27 pm
Of course, I’ve already sent my R200 into this mixer, so we’d better reach 100 votes! lol
Hey, look, 71 votes in one day, I reckon the earlybirds tomorrow will push it past the 100 mark, easy.
Here’s to victory!
Oct 21st, 2008 at 10:43 pm
The count now is 73, so I reckon you’re spot on, tomorrow morning will push it over, I’m wondering if I should tie something onto every vote over a hundred now :)
27 more votes and we’ve raised a lovely R1000!

I’m in for R200 if you hit 100 votes, and R10 extra for every vote after that.

Right, I’ve blogged it – and I am going to give R100 for the 100 mark, and a further R50 if you hit 150 votes.

@vhailorZ, that’s fine, the campaign hasn’t been running for too long! I’ll be donating my R200.00 regardless of whether we reach 100 or not, it would just be nice if it could reach that!

Hey Chris. You’re already at 100 votes, so SouthAfrica. To will donate R250 if it hits 150 votes!
Oct 23rd, 2008 at 1:18 pm
112 already, that gives R250 + (10 * 12) = R370.
Oct 23rd, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Wow, the tally really is climbing big time!
Thanks SouthAfrica.to and vhailorZ!!!

Hi Chris, Just wanted to say THANKS for getting so involved with the Breadline Africa Worldwide Blogger Bake Off.
I’ve met with some of the projects who will be benefitting from the Bake Off funds and I know that they would be so grateful for the effort you’ve put in.
Stay tuned for project updates as the Bake Off continues.
Keep up the good work and happy baking!
Cheers,
