Just slightly sensationalist, don’t you think? The iPhone is not “Banned in Canada” – it’s still going to be sold in Rogers + Fido stores, just not in Apple shops….

Mike.. I agree, I’ve heard that there’s nothing increible about the phone and I certainly didn’t find anything amazing when I played on one, but I’m still hooked ;)

“Apple says that the $199 (8GB) and $299 (16GB) prices will be maximums in almost all of the countries in which it is offered; however, these prices represent carrier-locked prices, based upon a commitment to pay recurring voice and data fees for 18 or more months (effectively doubling the price over the period of ownership).

Unlocked, contract-free pricing will cost much more (up to 3.5 to 4 times more), so this is expected to cost R7,000 to R9,000 in contract-free form”

Nice phone and all but reading the fine print it’s really not that amazing if its priced the same as most other phones of its class.

Hmm that is where im hoping to get a bit lucky. I hope that i can somehow get one on prepaid over there so there wont be any need to unlock or anything. I think I could be being a little hopeful, but my fingers are crossed

Hmm another James. I also can’t wait to get my hands on an iPhone. Maybe i can get my dad to get me one when he goes to america or europe again. I hope i can get it for $200 though and not the R8k that has been mentioned. then ill be \:D/
