After being contacted to beta test the release of the new Afrigator website, I decided to make a point of looking around the website for new features as well as setup my new tracking code and get under way with things.
I’ve noticed a couple interesting things:
- In general, the home page of the site has changed somewhat, introducing four sorting tabs for Recent Posts, Most Clicked and Popular Bloggers. There is also an interesting tab called Custom, which basically allows you to customize filters to select your country of preference.
- MyGator is an internal feature, I don’t want to spoil it, rather go and take a look. MyGator now exists on the home page.
- There’s a new stats icon, which will show you were the blog is ranked on Afrigator.
- For the news page, you’ll now be able to sort news articles by popularity or freshness.
- The Expand/Collapse buttons will give you a summarized version of the content for a specific post – this is a fantastic feature in my opinion!
- Ajax has been incorporated across most of the pages, which allows for quick and easy navigation around the areas of the website.
- The users profile page has been changed slightly to allow for easier navigation and usability.
- Blog rankings and statistics are now based on visits, page views, links from other Afrigator blogs and links from other afrigator blog posts.
All in all, I think the revision of Afrigator is a great deal better than before. I stopped using Afrigator for a while as I could really see little benefit or use for the service as it was incredibly slow and hard to navigate and understand, but these kinks have been ironed out from what I can see and I’m going to be a regular now.

As you can see, things have changed considerably and it’s going to be lovely to watch and see whether the site becomes more and more popular. I’ve played around a bit and have noticed that my site is ranking very nicely:

Hey Chris, thanx so much for the kind words! If there is anything (suggestions or bugs), just shout. Much appreciated man!
Super post – thanks mate!
Hey gents, give credit, where credit is due and that’s exactly what I’ve done. Now it’s all about working my way up the ranks as much as possible ;)
Keep up the awesome work!
