MXit Desktop PC Client now Available!
MXit have finally released a desktop client, which is easily downloadable via their website. I have been wondering when this would happen and finally it has!
Download details:
There are still a number of limitations:
- Sending / Receiving encrypted messages (encryption of login details is supported)
- MultiMx
- Multiple language support
- Alert profiles
- Inline images
- Text markup
- Custom emoticons
- Voice recorder
- Vibes
- Sending SMSes
- Offline contacts cannot be hidden
- Messages that are saved in the gallery cannot be viewed
- Group broadcast (sending messages / files to all the members of a group)
Despite these limitations, MXit is still most definitely fronting the Mobile VoIP movement in South Africa!

well, Dec as in 2007 and yeah, he was using it on the laptop there one night. his mad into mxit. you should see him. its almost amazing to watch. he does’nt even look at his phone, he cant have a conversation with you and gooi mxit at the same time just looking down every so often to check.

I think he was probably using mpowerplayer to simulate the java application. I don’t think the desktop application has been available that long :)
MXit users are scary, completely addicted – I know a few people who sound like your brother!

Sorry, I think I got the same question on two different sites. Anyways, I want to download mxit version 5.6 on my phone, Samsung D900, But when I think it’s downloaded it says install error or something like that. Is my phone one of those phones that v5.6 is just not compatible with?

I would suggest downloading a different version, ie. choose a version for a mobile similar to yours, such as the D500 for example..

I can get to download screen now without having been asked for my mxit id now, somehow they not asking me for that anymore, but the thing is I can’t select or choose for which model phone I can download as. It simply just has a link that says download and that’s it. I can’t choose previous versions either.

Best bet is to always delete the application, turn the phone off for 30seconds and then turn it on, redownload and reinstall the application, if that fails, then move onto checking that your operating system is compatible, etc.

Do any of you people that use MXit PC encounter a message “Error Has Occurred Program Needs To Shut down” or something like it? Did you carry on using it or switch to emulator?? Please help!!

I agree, a huge number of my friends are using Macs these days, it’s not just a designer thing anymore at all.
I’m sure MXit are aware of this though, they’re a cutting edge company..

I can’t connect on the PC version at all, i’m British, when I try to log in with a TCP connection, It says I do not have an account even thought it works perfectly on my phone and with the HTTP verison, It gets stuck on connecting…any thoughts on how to get this working?
