Local rocker gets naked on video to promote his band
“So I was wondering what I could do to get you guys to vote for my band,” are the words of an almost-naked Phil Black, lead singer of Cape Town rock band Chasing Friday, as he stands before a video camera. He then starts gyrating like a pole dancer, crooning “Chasing Friday baby, alright, alright, alright,” amid a flurry of clicks, claps and whistles.
“I’m just a guy, standing next to a camera, asking you to vote for his band,” he says, clad in a very questionable white garment, before straddling the tripod and turning around to wag his behind to the world, singing “chasingfriday.com, chasingfriday.com…”
Phil has uploaded the video to MyVideo (see below) in an effort to get South Africans to vote for his band in a local competition. In the video he gives details of how fans can vote for the band (they’ve already amassed almost 250 votes), and also makes a dodgy promise…
“This is how I will come, dressed like this, to each and every one of your houses, if you vote for my band,” he offers (though some people would probably see it as more of a threat). Forward him your confirmation link you receive after voting, and he promises to arrive at your house just as he appears in the video – with a free CD to thank you for your efforts.
Crazy or clever? You decide. Either way, Phil’s a brave man!

It’s one way to see the country I suppose? Hehehe…I’m very impressed (with you not the band) I thought my comment landed in your Askismet bin again, only to see you already responded!
Did you find it there, or has it finally realised I’m not spam?
