War Games, staring non-other than Matthew Broderick, was released in 1983 – An exciting movie about a young man, overwhelmed by his interest in computers, who found a back door into a military central computer in which reality is confused with game-playing, possibly starting World War III.

I remember watching the movie many years ago and stumbled across it a few days ago and decided to get my hands on a copy to watch it again. The movie won many awards from the Academy Awards, USA to the American Cinema Editors, USA to the Young Artist Awards. The movie was a first in its nature, which in my opinion lead to a small breakthrough in the worlds realisation of what possibilities were available with computers and the dangers of hacking and cracking.
Since then, we have seen the likes of Hackers I, Hackers II, Antitrust, Swordfish and a couple other movies which have attempted to showcase hacking, but after watching War Games again, it’s clear that these ‘new age’ movies really weren’t too accurate (well, I know they aren’t lol, but it sounded right to say it non-the-less).
Anyway, it’s a great movie and definitely worth watching again.
