Synthasite Beta goes live!

Congratulations to Vinny and his team with the launch of Synthasite – truly web 2.0 and truly amazing. I previously blogged about Synthasite being incredible over two months ago, when it first started circulating the Internet. And since then I blogged about Synthasite offering designers shares in the company for template designs – unfortunately, Synthasite, due to legal issues, are no longer offering these shares (see point 2), which I’m sure is a big upset to many designers.

One of the main reasons I took great interest in this project was because it’s a local start up and secondly because it’s something I have thought about for years. A couple of years ago, I became writing a template/website creation engine, which would allow a client to place a CD into his/her CD-rom and build a website on the fly. The software registered domains, uploaded files to hosting and everything. It then had an accept button and once the client was happy, he would receive an invoice. I am really sad that I never got it 100% up and running – it was a matter of being too young and not knowing the right people nor having the funding or way to find the funding.

I took a good look at the release this morning and actually managed to have a chat to Vinny with regards to a couple suggestions and bug fixes. Vinny is a busy man, but he has never ignored an email from me and I would like to thank him for having the time!

Some of the features Synthasite offers are:

  • Build your website in minutes with no programming knowledge!
  • Get started quickly with our growing template library
  • Over a dozen site templates to start building with
  • Free hosting & free domain name
  • Download your site & host it yourself if you want!

All-in-all, I am very excited to see where this project goes and must admit that it does sort of worry me with regards to my choice of carreer in webdesign and development – Vinny, don’t steal the whole market now! I see Synthasite potentially growing into one of the largest web publishing tools around. That being said, if you are looking for a job, there are a few exciting positions available over here.

Head on over to Synthasite and take a look for yourself!
