Investing money.. Pt1

I have been spending some time looking into investing money and buying shares, as I see it as something really important. The question is, do I invest in high risks shares and follow very closely, perhaps write some code to track the shares’ progress, or do I invest in some low risk shares and enjoy a small, but gradual return? I know that places such as Liberty Life and Old Mutual offer these straight forward investment plans, which involves a minimum payment of R125.00 per month over 10, 15, or 20 years. Now, doing some math quickly, 125 * 12 * 10 would yield a total of R15,000 invested after 10 years of investment. I’m not sure of the interest rates and the anual increase in monthly deposits, but an investment like this would be a really safe one.

Playing the J.S.E. would be fun, buy some shares, watch them daily and basically experience the ‘game’, so to say. This way you would be able to yield a higher return, but you stand the chance of losing a lot more. It’s basically like gambling if you think about it, the more your bankroll is, the more you potentially able to make. Equinox is an online resource, which is very interesting: “Equinox presents the simplest, fastest and lowest cost option to invest in South Africa’s top unit trust funds.” – more here..

I have a couple of things written down and a few email address, so I am going to spend some time looking into this carefully, and then I will post again. Old Mutual has something called The Money Care Plan, which is a very safe option, “The Money Care Plan from Old Mutual can help you build even a small monthly saving into something really worthwhile in just 10 years.” Take a look by using the advert on the right of my website if you are interested.
