Back in the day..

I was having a chat to a good friend of mine, Amy, a few minutes ago. We were talking about the beach and the sun, and tanning, etc. It made me think of many years ago, when the beach was so a large part of my life, so I decided to remanis a little on my blog.

Back in 96/97/98, a group of friends (Laura, Nicola, Kim, Jade, Tina, Daniella, Cara, Sean, Brendon, Rhys, Rory, Bryan, Tim, Giancarlo, etc) and I used to head down to Llundudno every Sunday for a couple hours of surfing, some suntanning and some relaxing. We would organise a Combi to do all the lifting, as there were over ten of us, and we would get to the beach in the early hours of the morning. We would have something to eat before the sun came up, and by the time the sun was up, we were ready for a couple hours surfing. The water at Llundudno was always crystal clear, and the waves would be decent enough to do some good surfing. I have many memories of awesome moves we all learnt to do at that beach. On the western side of the beach, was an area we called The Wedge, which had a similar wave break to The Wedge in Plett, where waves would meet eachother and form a wedge, perfect for aerials!

We would all park off during the middle of the day and eat lunch, flirt a little and just have a good time in general. I remember memories of walking over to Sandy Bay when the waves were too large at Llundudno, and I remember a dodgy dodgy story involving a dodgy old man and us bolting back to Llundudno ;) Often we would stay until sun set and watch the beautiful patterns the sun’s last rays would portray on the water.

These few years were some of the best years of my life, and some of the years which created magnificant life-long memories for me. Each and every time I hear about Llundudno or go anywhere near it, my mind flies right back to those days.

Life was easy back then, wasn’t it?

That’s me and my friends, but we’re on a local lake waterskiing, watching some attempt to wakeboard or kneeboard (hilarious, trust me), and getting pushed off the dock.

And catching 2inch fish off the boathouse dock.

And almost catching the house on fire with a bonfire (not my fault, I SWEAR.)

And cars breaking down or boats breaking down and being stuck there.

Inviting the fisheries agents onto the boat to drink with us. And watch us attempt to sing/blow Twinkle Twinkle off our semi-drank bottles… that wasn’t too long ago, actually, LOL!

    Always wonderful!!

Sounds super awesome! Ye, I’ve got some bonfire stories of my own too, hehe!

I really want to hire a place near a lake sometime soon, I have a craving to get the fishing gear out, and do a long day of fishing, followed by sundowners and a braai!

Have a good weekend sweety, it’s bed time for me :)

Let me know when, I’ll see what I can do about showing up. ;) :)

Between bonfires and fireworks… lord help me I’m surprised I have hair. Or hands. Or friends. Or freedom.

Hope you have a peaceful, relaxing weekend. I know I’m doing my best! :D

And I’m still waiting on that cool thing to do with my phone :P

hehe, fireworks.. lol, let’s not even go there, I’ve been arrested for those darn things!

I’m feeling krap, someone spiked my drink, and I’ve felt awful since. Arrived home safely, my car is in the driveway, but my keys are gone :(((

The phone thing.. ye, Monday I will tell you all about it, you guna love it :)

I’ve never been arrested (as I adjust my halo). But I’ve been nearly blown up, burned down, or otherwise bodily injured by a few of them. And watched other people do stupid things that endangered them also. Craziness.

I’m sorry you feel like crap. I’ll come beat them up. Or… something like that. Hell hath no fury like a southern belle. Even if you can’t understand me. You know I’m mad, and that you are in for an earful and possibly a painful night.

I wonder how my accent would hold up in South Africa…

Hehe, I’m feeling quite a bit better now, had some delicious dinner with a friend, parked off and watched a dvd, and I probably should be asleep and all, but now that I’m finally feeling better, I kinda wana reap the benefits ;)

Your accent here, hehe, no idea, wonder how mine would do over there :P

    Chat to you soon!

Got something to say? Go for it!
