It’s true, South Africa is still very much behind the rest of the world, and as the days go, so do the coza domain names. It’s actually so interesting to see how many coza domains are actually still available!

The facebook coza site will inform all the users of the new site release, the minute the code is completed and running again successfully.

Some of it yes, our little cyber-pond being relatively young there’s a lot of ‘positioning’ going on. In itself not a bad thing but in the hast to be first to break a story or to portray being an opinion maker/leader I think some of us succumb to the fact that it is so much easier to criticize and denounce than being constructive.

The rest of it is just good old link-bait, which is fine. No such thing as bad publicity provided it is managed effectively. I think you’ve done well all things considered.

That said I’m curious what happens to the info you capture on the home page of facebook.co.za?

Very true AndreSC, I didn’t really think of it from that way, but now that you mention it, it makes a lot of sense.

I think a lot of it is fueled by jealousy too, which goes fairly hand in hand with what you said about making a profit, what do you reckon?

me thinks often the only difference between ‘squatting’ and ‘speculating’ has to do with whether or not the speaker stands to profit :-)

Squatting.. I just love that word. lol.

No problem, had a look around your website, one thing which came to mind immediately, was the writing on your header design, I don’t think the white font does it justice. Just a thought, use it, don’t :)

I think by dodgy he / she meant the alleged “facebook squarting” but in my opinnion you are generating leads and punting facebook (how much are they getting from the “free SEM you are doing for them?). Sure make a bit off it while ur at it…
You can’t exactly call this cybersquarting.

However it is an exceptional case and with a bit of luck on your side so it shouldn’t be taken into the equation with this article and money made off there should be taken out of the R15K…

NoTiTo – your initial assumption is correct. Congrats on signing up – The TrafficSynergy team is fantastic, and they will help you and guide you through the process. I’m not sure what stage your website/s is/are at, but don’t go wild with the advertising, slowly add ad units, and monitor all of your statistics very carefully!

just to confirm… From what I gather this article relates to making money off ad placements only? By this I mean e.g. your R15K last month excludes contracting works (design, develoment, etc).
Am I correct?

Lastly, I agree and my strategy is to read, understand, internalise (what will work for me and when do I effect what – I signed up with trafficsynergy some months back, but my gutt feel was not to put any ads yet untill lastweek Friday only), implement then monitor, then all over again.

It is early days for me still…
